In vivo, NBQX disodium salt has proven to be active. Kinetic studies involving N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors have used NBQX disodium salt. NBQX disodium salt is analogous to the quinoxalinedione antagonists to the non-NMDA glutamate receptor. In rat neocortex slices, NBQX disodium salt was reported to block excitatory actions.
