Product Description

MyD88 is a cytosolic adapter protein that plays a crucial role in the innate immune response, acting as an adaptor protein that facilitates the signaling cascade initiated by the interleukin-1 receptor, which is vital for the activation of the NFκB pathway. This pathway is essential for the transcription of pro-inflammatory cytokines and other immune response genes, highlighting MyD88′s importance in mediating inflammatory responses and maintaining immune homeostasis. MyD88′s structure includes a distinctive N-terminal death domain, which is critical for interaction with interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase (IRAK), and a Toll/IL-1R homology domain that enables association with the IL-1 receptor complex.
