Product Description

ABCG2 also known as BCRP1, ABCP, MXR is a member of the ATP-binding cassette transporter family that functions as ATP-dependent transporters for a wide variety of chemical compounds and are associated with drug-resistance in cancer cells. ABCG2 plays a crucial role in transporting various substrates across cellular membranes using energy from ATP hydrolysis. ABCG2 confers resistance to several chemotherapeutic agents, including anthracyclines and topotecan, impacting treatment efficacy in cancer patients. ABCG2 is predominantly expressed in placenta, liver, intestine, and various stem cells, where ABCG2 regulates stem cell differentiation and maintains side population (SP) phenotype, indicating stem cell properties. ABCG2 undergoes post-translational modifications such as N-linked glycosylation, influencing stability and function, and dimerizes in vivo, highlighting a complex role in cellular processes.
