| Product Description | |
TREK-2 also known as KCNK10 is a member of the tandem-pore potassium channel family. TREK-2 plays a crucial role in maintaining the resting membrane potential and regulating cellular excitability. TREK-2 contributes to neuronal signaling and the modulation of synaptic transmission. TREK-2 is primarily localized in the cerebellum, spleen, and testis, and TREK-2′s expression in these tissues underscores its significance in various physiological processes, including sensory transduction and the response to mechanical stimuli. TREK-2 consists of 538 amino acids and features two pore-forming domains and four transmembrane segments, which are essential for its function as a potassium channel. TREK-2 exhibits inward rectification and is activated by arachidonic acid and other unsaturated fatty acids, highlighting TREK-2′s role in cellular responses to metabolic changes. |
