| Product Description | |
Cathepsin D also known as CPSD, CTSD is a member of the A1 family of peptidases. Cathepsin D plays a crucial role in studying cellular metabolism, autophagy, and apoptosis by detecting proteins broken down into smaller peptides within the acidic lysosomal environment. This enzyme is synthesized as an inactive precursor and activated through proteolytic cleavage, which is essential for enzymatic activity. Cathepsin D also cleaves specific protein precursors to release regulatory peptides that modulate various cellular processes. Enzymatic activity is tightly regulated, as dysregulation has been implicated in pathological conditions, including cancer, where cathepsin D may promote tumor progression and metastasis. |
