Product Description | |
TRAP(Tartrate resistant acid phosphatase) also known as ACP5 is an iron-containing glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in bone metabolism by catalyzing the hydrolysis of phosphate esters, TRAP is essential for bone resorption and remodeling. TRAP is primarily located in osteoclasts, the cells responsible for bone degradation, and TRAP activity is vital for maintaining bone homeostasis. TRAP regulation is particularly important in pathological conditions such as osteoporosis and certain cancers, where osteoclast activity is dysregulated. Additionally, receptor activator of NFkB ligand (RANKL) activates TRAP, which enhances osteoclast differentiation and function, further underscoring TRAP significance in bone health and disease. |
