hnRNP A1 is a crucial member of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) family. hnRNP A1 plays a significant role in mRNA transcription, pre-mRNA processing, and the transport of mature mRNA to the cytoplasm for translation. hnRNP A1 is primarily localized in the nucleus, where hnRNP A1 interacts with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) produced by RNA polymerase II, and is essential for the regulation of gene expression. hnRNP A1 influences splice site selection and antagonizes the association of splicing factors, thereby modulating pre-mRNA processing. hnRNP A1′s ability to shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm allows participation in various stages of mRNA metabolism, making hnRNP A1 vital for maintaining mRNA stability and proper gene expression.
