Product Description

Slug also known as SNAI2 is a member of the Snail family of C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factors. Slug plays a crucial role in embryonic development and cellular processes, particularly in the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which is essential for processes such as tissue remodeling and organogenesis. Slug is primarily located in the nucleus, where Slug functions as a transcriptional repressor, binding to specific DNA sequences to inhibit the expression of genes that promote epithelial characteristics. This nuclear localization enables Slug to effectively regulate gene expression during critical developmental stages and in pathological conditions, such as cancer, where Slug contributes to tumor progression and metastasis by promoting cell migration and invasion.
