Product Description

PBK(PDZ-binding kinase) also known as SPK is a serine/threonine protein kinase related to the dual specific mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MAPKK) family. PBK plays a crucial role in regulating cellular processes, particularly in cell cycle control and cellular proliferation. PBK is predominantly expressed in the placenta and is notably absent in adult brain tissue, highlighting specific functional relevance in reproductive biology. PBK interaction with PDZ domain-containing proteins, such as tumor suppressor protein Dlg, underscores importance in cellular signaling pathways. PBK is activated by cell cycle checkpoint kinase Cdc2/cyclin B, which phosphorylates PBK, thereby influencing activity and potential oncogenic effects. PBK ability to modulate phosphorylation states of oncoproteins and tumor suppressor proteins makes this target significant for research in cancer biology and therapeutic development.
