Product Description

NumA also known as NumA1 plays a critical role in organizing and stabilizing spindle poles during mitosis, which is essential for accurate chromosome segregation. Mapping to chromosome 11q13, NuMA gene encodes a noncentrosomal protein that binds to microtubules through its carboxyl terminal region, facilitating bipolar spindle formation by aggregating microtubules and interacting with motor proteins. This function is vital for maintaining genomic stability, as errors in spindle assembly can lead to aneuploidy and contribute to tumorigenesis. NuMA protein is predominantly localized to the spindle apparatus during mitosis, yet also appears in the nucleus and cytoplasm of post-mitotic neurons, indicating diverse roles in different cell types.
