| Product Description | |
Caspase-3 also known as SCA-1, Yama, CASP3 is a crucial aspartate-specific cysteine protease within the ICE subfamily of caspases. Caspase-3 plays a pivotal role in the execution phase of apoptosis, the programmed cell death process essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and eliminating damaged or unwanted cells. Upon activation, caspase-3 cleaves key substrates like PARP, leading to the dismantling of cellular components necessary for apoptosis. Additionally, caspase-3 is involved in activating other caspases, including caspase-6, -7, and -9, thereby amplifying the apoptotic signal. Caspase-3′s structural domains facilitate localization and interaction within the cytoplasm, making caspase-3 a key player in various physiological and pathological contexts. |
