Product Description | |
CD2 is a crucial transmembrane glycoprotein primarily expressed on peripheral blood T lymphocytes, natural killer (NK) cells, and thymocytes, as well as on mouse B cells and rat splenic macrophages. CD2 mediates cell adhesion by interacting with CD58, which enhances antigen-specific T cell activation. This interaction is vital for optimizing immune system recognition, facilitating communication between helper T lymphocytes and antigen-presenting cells, as well as between cytolytic effectors and target cells. The importance of CD2 in immune responses underscores CD2′s potential as a therapeutic target in various immunological disorders. |
