IRAK4 also known as Interleukin-1 Receptor-Associated Kinase 4, plays a crucial role in the innate immune response by mediating signal transduction from Toll-like receptors and interleukin-1 receptors, which are vital for the activation of the NFkB signaling pathway and MAP kinase pathways. IRAK4 is primarily located in the cytoplasm and is essential for proper immune cell functioning, as IRAK4 facilitates IRAK1 phosphorylation, thereby amplifying immune response. IRAK4 shows high expression in liver and kidney tissues, with lower levels found in other tissues, underscoring IRAK-4′s importance in maintaining immune homeostasis. IRAK-4 deficiencies can lead to severe immunological consequences, including recurrent bacterial infections and diminished response to lipopolysaccharides and interleukin-1, making IRAK4 a potential target for therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing immune function. |
