Product Description

MIST1 also known as BHLHB8, BHLHA15 is a secretory cell transcription factor that belongs to the basic helix-loop-helix superfamily. MIST1 features a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) domain, which is crucial for its role as a transcription factor. The bHLH domain allows MIST1 to bind to E-box motifs in the promoter or enhancer regions of various developmentally regulated genes, functioning as either a transcriptional activator or repressor. MIST1 interacts with E-proteins such as E12 and E47, and plays a significant role in regulating the transcriptional activity of MyoD, a key protein in muscle cell development. By acting as a repressor of MyoD activity, MIST1 ensures that myoblast populations remain undifferentiated, which is vital for muscle development.
