Product Description

MTA1 is a protein that was identified in a screen for genes expressed in metastatic cells, specifically, mammary adenocarcinoma cell lines. plays a crucial role as a component of the NURD (nucleosome remodeling and histone deacetylation) complex, which is essential for ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling and histone deacetylase activity. MTA1 is primarily located in the nucleus, where MTA1 facilitates transcriptional repression by promoting the association of repressor molecules with chromatin, thereby influencing gene expression. The structural integrity of MTA1, which includes a single SH3-binding motif and a zinc finger domain, is vital for function, as these domains are involved in protein-protein interactions that are critical for the assembly and activity of the NURD complex.
