| Product Description | |
CRYAB also known as αB-crystallin, Crystallin alpha B is a member of the small heat shock protein family. CRYAB plays a crucial role in cellular stress response by acting as a molecular chaperone, preventing the aggregation of denatured proteins and maintaining cellular protein homeostasis. This function is particularly important in tissues that are subject to high levels of stress, such as the heart and skeletal muscle, where elevated expression of CRYAB has been linked to various neurological diseases. Notably, a missense mutation in the CRYAB gene has been associated with Desmin-related myopathy, highlighting its significance in muscle integrity and function. The unique structure of CRYAB, which includes a conserved α-crystallin domain, allows CRYAB to interact with a variety of client proteins, thereby influencing their stability and activity. |
