| Product Description | |
EpCAM(Eepithelial cell adhesion molecule) also known as MK-1 is a carcinoma-associated antigen and is a member of a family that includes at least two type I membrane proteins. EpCAM plays a significant role in cell-cell adhesion, which is vital for maintaining tissue integrity and regulating cellular signaling pathways. EpCAM overexpression in numerous carcinomas makes this protein a promising target for both visualization and therapeutic strategies in human solid tumors. EpCAM structure includes an extracellular domain with two epidermal growth factor-like repeats followed by a cysteine-poor region, which is essential for adhesive properties, thereby highlighting EpCAM importance in both normal physiology and cancer pathology. |
