| Product Description | |
L-Selectin also known as also CD62L, LECAM-1, SELL is a cell surface adhesion molecule that belongs to a family of adhesion/homing receptors. L-Selectin plays a crucial role in the immune response by mediating the adhesion of leukocytes to the endothelium, which is essential for the migration of immune cells to sites of inflammation. L-Selectin is predominantly expressed on the surface of naive T cells, B cells, and various types of leukocytes, including monocytes, neutrophils, and eosinophils. L-Selectin′s ability to interact with specific carbohydrates on activated endothelial cells facilitates the initial steps of leukocyte extravasation, a process vital for effective immune surveillance and response. The structural features of L-Selectin, including its lectin-like domain, are important for binding affinity and specificity to ligands such as sialyl-Lex, which are expressed on activated endothelial cells. |
