GPRC5B also known as MLC3, RAIG2 is a member of the type 3 G protein-coupled receptor family. GPRC5B plays a crucial role in mediating cellular responses to retinoic acid, which is vital for various physiological processes, including cell differentiation and growth. GPRC5B is predominantly expressed in the kidney, pancreas, and testis, with moderate levels found in the brain, heart, prostate, small intestine, and spleen, highlighting potential significance in both endocrine and exocrine functions. The unique structure of GPRC5B, characterized by seven transmembrane domains, allows effective transduction of extracellular signals through heterotrimeric G proteins, thereby influencing critical signaling pathways.
