Product Description

CtBP(C-terminal binding protein) plays a crucial role as a transcriptional corepressor, influencing various cellular processes by modulating gene expression. CtBP is involved in the regulation of the p21 promoter in response to DNA damage, a critical function that helps maintain genomic stability. The interaction between CtBP and CtIP, a protein that recognizes distinct motifs, is essential for this regulatory mechanism, as CtIP binds to the BRCT repeats of the breast cancer gene BRCA1, thereby enabling CtBP to influence BRCA1 activity. The ability of CtBP to form complexes with other proteins, such as δEF1, further underscores its significance in transcriptional silencing during skeletal and T-cell development.
