BCDKD is an important regulator of the valine, leucine, and isoleucine catabolic pathways. BCDKD plays a vital role in regulating the branched-chain alpha-ketoacid dehydrogenase (BCKD) complex. The BCKD complex catalyzes the irreversible oxidative decarboxylation of BCAAs, making BCKD essential for energy production and metabolic homeostasis.
