Product Description | |
PKD2 also known as Polycystin 2, PC2 is a member of the polycystin protein family. PKD2 plays a crucial role in calcium ion transport and cellular signaling. The localization of PKD2 at these cellular sites is significant, as PKD2 regulates calcium homeostasis and thus influences cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. PKD2′s proper function is essential for kidney health, and mutations in the PKD2 gene are associated with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), contributing to cyst formation in kidney tubules. PKD2 is known to interact with Polycystin-1, forming a complex that enhances AP-1 expression, which is critical for modulating gene expression linked to cell growth and apoptosis. |
