| Product Description | |
AMPKβ2 also known as PRKAB2 is a regulatory subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPKβ2 plays a crucial role in cellular energy homeostasis as part of the heterotrimeric AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) complex, which consists of a catalytic alpha subunit and regulatory beta and gamma subunits. AMPKβ2 is primarily located in the cytoplasm and is essential for sensing cellular energy levels, becoming activated in response to increased AMP and decreased ATP levels, thereby promoting energy conservation by inhibiting ATP-consuming processes. AMPKβ2′s cellular location enables rapid response to metabolic stress, allowing for immediate adjustments in energy expenditure and synthesis. |
