| Product Description | |
AMPKβ1 also known as PRKAB1 is a regulatory subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPKβ1 plays a vital role in cellular energy homeostasis. AMPKβ1 is primarily located in the cytoplasm and is essential for the proper functioning of AMPK, as AMPKβ1 helps to stabilize the complex and facilitate activation in response to cellular energy stress. AMPKβ1′s presence in the cytoplasm allows for rapid signaling in response to fluctuations in ATP levels, enabling the cell to adapt metabolic pathways accordingly. By promoting the phosphorylation of key enzymes involved in energy metabolism, such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase and hydroxy-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase, AMPKβ1 helps to maintain energy balance and prevent cellular damage during periods of low energy availability. |
