Product Description

NOD1 also known as CARD4, NLRC1 is a member of the nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptor (NLR) family of proteins. NOD1 plays a crucial role in the innate immune response by recognizing specific bacterial peptidoglycans, which is essential for initiating a proper immune reaction to infections. Structurally, NOD1 contains a caspase recruitment domain (CARD) and a nucleotide-binding domain, which are vital for function in signaling pathways that activate nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NFkB). This activation leads to the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, thereby enhancing the immune response. Additionally, NOD1 interacts with the CARD-containing kinase RICK, facilitating the recruitment of downstream signaling molecules and promoting apoptosis through the activation of caspase-9.
