| Product Description | |
MyoD is a nuclear protein that belongs to the basic helix-loop-helix family of transcription factors and the myogenic factors subfamily. It regulates muscle cell differentiation by inducing cell cycle arrest, a prerequisite for myogenic initiation. MyoD is also involved in muscle regeneration. It activates its own transcription which may stabilize commitment to myogenesis. MyoD plays an essential role in muscle cell differentiation by binding to E-box sequences (CANNTG) in the DNA, thereby regulating the expression of genes critical for muscle development and regeneration. By forming heterodimers with E proteins such as E2A, IF2, and HEB, MyoD activates the transcription of muscle-specific genes, making MyoD a key regulator in myogenesis. |
