Product Description

IL-17A also known as IL-17, CTLA8 is a member of the IL-17 receptor family which includes five members (IL-17RA-E) and the encoded protein is a proinflammatory cytokine produced by activated T cells. IL-17A plays a pivotal role in immune responses against pathogens. Structurally, IL-17A forms a homodimer consisting of two identical subunits linked by disulfide bonds, a configuration crucial for biological activity and interaction with IL-17 receptor (IL-17R) on target cells. This structural arrangement enables IL-17A to induce the expression of other cytokines and chemokines, amplifying inflammatory responses and contributing to host defense mechanisms. Dysregulation of IL-17 has been implicated in various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, making IL-17A an important target for therapeutic research.
