| Product Description | |
IGF-I(Insulin-like growth factor I) also known as IGF1 is similar to insulin in function and structure and is a member of a family of proteins involved in mediating growth and development. IGF-I plays a vital role in growth and development, acting in both autocrine and paracrine manners to stimulate vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation. IGF-I is primarily located in the bloodstream and produced mainly by the liver in response to growth hormone stimulation. This localization allows IGF-I to exert systemic effects on tissues throughout the body, influencing processes such as cell growth, differentiation, and metabolism. IGF-I is essential for normal bone growth and repair, as well as for regulation of renal function and immune response. IGF-I biological activity is modulated by a family of six IGF-binding proteins (IGFBP1-6), which can either enhance or inhibit actions, thereby fine-tuning effects on various physiological processes.
