Product Description

XRCC2 is a member of the RecA/Rad51-related protein family. XRCC2 plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic stability by participating in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks via homologous recombination, a vital process for accurate DNA repair during cell division. XRCC2 is primarily located in the nucleus, where XRCC2 interacts with other key proteins involved in the DNA repair machinery, such as Rad51, to facilitate the repair process. XRCC2′s nuclear localization ensures repair mechanisms are efficiently executed at the site of damage, thereby preventing genomic instability that could lead to various diseases, including cancer. Deficiencies in XRCC2 can result in increased sensitivity to DNA-damaging agents and contribute to the development of disorders associated with defective DNA repair.
