TNFR1 also known as TNF-R1, TNFRSF1A is a member of the TNF receptor superfamily of proteins. TNFR1 plays a pivotal role in mediating the effects of tumor necrosis factor, a key cytokine involved in inflammation and apoptosis. TNFR1′s presence on diverse cell types allows for a wide range of biological responses, including cell survival, proliferation, and differentiation, making TNFR1 essential for maintaining immune homeostasis. TNFR1 interacts with several signaling proteins, including TRADD, FADD, and RIP, which are crucial for propagating apoptotic signals within the cell. TNFR1′s ability to initiate apoptosis through its "death domain" motif underscores TNFR1′s significance in regulating cell fate and highlights TNFR1′s potential as a therapeutic target in diseases characterized by dysregulated apoptosis, such as cancer and autoimmune disorders.
