| Product Description | |
TIMP3 is a member of the TIMP gene family. TIMP3 plays a crucial role in regulating extracellular matrix remodeling and inhibits various metalloproteinases, including collagenases and gelatinases, which are involved in tissue degradation and repair processes. This inhibition maintains tissue integrity and prevents excessive matrix degradation, which can lead to pathological conditions such as fibrosis and cancer metastasis. TIMP3 is unique among tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases as the only member secreted and found in the nucleus, suggesting a potential role in regulating gene expression and cellular signaling pathways. TIMP3 expression is particularly important in tissues undergoing remodeling, such as during wound healing and tumor progression, where TIMP3 may influence cancer cell invasive potential. |
