Product Description

SSTR2(Somatostatin receptor 2) is a member of the somatostatin receptor family. SSTR2 plays a crucial role in mediating the biological effects of somatostatin, a peptide hormone that regulates numerous physiological processes, including hormone secretion, cell proliferation, and neurotransmission. SSTR2 is primarily located on the cell membrane, where SSTR2 functions as a G-protein-coupled receptor, initiating intracellular signaling cascades that can inhibit adenylyl cyclase activity and modulate calcium ion channels. This localization is vital for signal transduction, as SSTR2 effectively responds to somatostatin and regulates various cellular functions. Additionally, SSTR2 can form functional homo- and heterodimers with other somatostatin receptor subtypes, enhancing the complexity and specificity of somatostatin signaling pathways.
