Product Description

SirT6 also known as Sirtuin 6, SIR2L6 is a member of the sirtuin family, consisting of NAD+-dependent deacetylases that play significant roles in cellular regulation. This 355 amino acid protein localizes primarily in the nucleus, functioning as a deacetylase for histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9), modulating telomeric chromatin structure and contributing to DNA repair processes and telomere maintenance. SirT6 maintains genomic stability through regulation of cellular aging and longevity. SirT6 binds zinc as a cofactor and expresses in four isoforms due to alternative splicing, influencing functional diversity and regulatory mechanisms within cells. SirT6 interactions with various proteins involved in DNA repair and chromatin remodeling underscore significance in cellular health and disease prevention.
