Product Description

TEL also known as ETV6 is an ETS family transcription factor. TEL plays a crucial role in hematopoiesis and is involved in the regulation of gene expression during blood cell development. TEL protein′s importance is underscored by involvement in specific chromosomal translocations associated with human leukemias and sarcomas, which can lead to the disruption of normal cellular functions and contribute to oncogenesis. TEL protein′s ability to bind DNA is facilitated by a highly conserved carboxy terminal domain that contains a sequence related to the SV40 large T antigen nuclear localization signal, allowing TEL to interact with specific DNA motifs, including the 5′-GGAA-3′ element. This interaction is vital for the transcriptional regulation of target genes, making TEL protein a significant player in both normal cellular processes and disease states.
