DDR2 also known as TKT, TYRO10 is a member of the discoidin domain receptor subclass of the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTKs) protein family. DDR2 plays a crucial role in mediating cellular responses to collagen, which is vital for tissue remodeling and repair. Located primarily on the cell surface, DDR2 interacts with collagen fibers, triggering signaling pathways that influence cell adhesion, migration, and differentiation. This interaction is particularly important in wound healing and fibrosis, as DDR2 activation leads to upregulation of matrix metalloproteinase-1, an enzyme that degrades extracellular matrix components.
