| Product Description | |
CART also known as CAT is a member of the carnitine acyltransferase family and a key metabolic pathway enzyme which plays an important role in energy homeostasis and fat metabolism. CART is predominantly located in the mitochondrial matrix, where over 70% of CART is found, but CART is also present in the endoplasmic reticulum and the inner membrane of mitochondria. This localization is significant as CART facilitates the transport of acetyl groups to mitochondria for oxidation, a key step in energy production. An age-associated decline in CART activity has been observed in various rat models, highlighting CART′s importance in metabolic health and the potential implications of reduced activity in aging. |
