β-TrCP also known as FBW1A, BTRC is a member of the F-box protein family which is characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F-box. β-TrCP plays a crucial role in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, functioning as a substrate recognition subunit of ubiquitin ligases. β-TrCP protein is essential for the regulation of various cellular processes, including the degradation of key regulatory proteins such as CD4, IkB, and β-catenin, which are involved in cell signaling and proliferation. β-TrCP-mediated ubiquitination of these proteins is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing aberrant signaling that could lead to diseases such as cancer. β-TrCP′s interaction with other proteins, including HOS (homologous to Slimb), highlights β-TrCP′s importance in the complex network of protein degradation and regulation within the cell.
