Product Description

ApoD(Apolipoprotein D) is a component of high density lipoprotein that has no marked similarity to other apolipoprotein sequences. ApoD plays a crucial role in lipid transport and metabolism, functioning as a member of the lipocalin superfamily, which binds small hydrophobic molecules, including arachidonic acid (AA). AA binding by ApoD indicates involvement in membrane phospholipid signal transduction pathways, essential for various cellular processes, including inflammation and cell signaling. ApoD expression has been associated with cell cycle regulation and correlates with prognosis in several malignancies, such as central nervous system astrocytomas and medulloblastomas, highlighting ApoD′s potential as a biomarker in cancer research.
