| Product Description | |
RAGE also known as AGRE is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell surface receptors. RAGE is a pivotal type I membrane protein predominantly located on the cell surface of endothelial cells, mononuclear phagocytes, and vascular smooth muscle cells, where it serves as a critical mediator of cellular responses to advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and other ligands. The strategic localization of RAGE on the cell membrane facilitates its role in transmitting extracellular signals into the cell, thereby activating pathways that lead to the production of reactive oxygen species and the activation of the transcription factor NF-κB. This activation is essential in regulating inflammatory responses, cellular proliferation, and apoptosis, making RAGE a key player in the development and progression of various pathological conditions such as diabetes, vascular diseases, and amyloidosis. |
