Product Description | |
LAMP-1 also known as CD107a is a glycosylated type I membrane protein that plays a crucial role in maintaining lysosomal function and integrity. LAMP-1 is primarily located on the lysosomal membrane, where LAMP-1 contributes to the regulation of lysosomal pH and protects lysosomal membranes from autodigestion. This localization is vital for cellular homeostasis, as lysosomes are responsible for degrading and recycling cellular waste, and any dysfunction in LAMP-1 can lead to lysosomal storage disorders. LAMP-1 is expressed on the surface of thrombin-activated platelets, suggesting LAMP-1′s involvement in the adhesive and prothrombotic properties of these cells, which is particularly important in the context of wound healing and inflammation. |
