Product Description | |
N-cadherin also known as Cadherin 2, CD325, CDH2 is a member of the cadherin superfamily. N-cadherin plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, facilitating binding between cells that is essential for maintaining tissue integrity and promoting morphogenetic processes. N-cadherin is primarily located at the cell membrane, where adherens junctions form, which are vital for structural organization of tissues. This localization enables N-cadherin to interact with the cytoskeleton and other signaling molecules, influencing cellular behavior and communication. The extracellular domain of N-cadherin features five homologous repeats, essential for adhesive properties, while the intracellular domain interacts with cytoplasmic proteins like β-catenin, linking cadherins to the actin cytoskeleton and regulating cellular responses. |
