| Product Description | |
CTH(Cystathionine γ-lyase) also known as γ-cystathionase, CSE is a member of the trans-sulfuration enzyme family and participates in the trans-sulfuration pathway. CTH is a cytoplasmic enzyme produced in the cytosol and is responsible for catalyzing the pyridoxal phosphate-dependent β-disulfide elimination reaction resulting in ammonium, pyruvate and thiocysteine. The thiocysteine generated can subsequently react with other thiols, leading to the production of hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a signaling molecule that plays a vital role in various physiological processes. CTH expression in tissues such as the kidney, liver, vascular smooth muscle cells, and enterocytes underscores CTH′s importance in regulating cellular functions, including cell growth, modulation of neuronal excitability, and relaxation of smooth muscle cells. Furthermore, the endogenous production of H2S is essential for maintaining vascular homeostasis and influencing blood pressure regulation. |
