Product Description

TSC2 also known as Tuberin is a tumor suppressor gene that encodes the growth inhibitory protein tuberin. TSC2plays a crucial role in the regulation of cell growth and proliferation, making tuberin vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Tuberin is primarily localized in membrane fractions, where tuberin interacts with various signaling pathways, including the Ras signaling cascade, to modulate the intrinsic GTPase activity of Rap1A. This interaction is significant because tuberin helps control cellular responses to growth factors and stress, thereby influencing tumorigenesis and other cellular processes. Mutations in the TSC2 gene, which encodes tuberin, are associated with tuberous sclerosis, a genetic disorder characterized by the formation of benign tumors and neurological issues.
