Product Description

Atg9A also known as APG9L1 is a crucial multi-pass membrane protein consisting of 839 amino acids that plays a significant role in the autophagy process, which is essential for cellular homeostasis and the degradation of damaged organelles and proteins. Atg9A is primarily localized to the pre-autophagosomal structure (PAS), where Atg9A is involved in the formation of isolation membranes that eventually wrap around cytoplasmic components to create double-membrane autophagosomes. These autophagosomes then fuse with lysosomes for degradation, highlighting Atg9A′s importance in maintaining cellular health, especially during nutrient deprivation. Atg9A cycling between the Golgi apparatus and endosomes, along with Atg9A interaction with the autophagosome-specific marker LC3, underscores Atg9a′s critical function in starvation-induced autophagosome formation.
