Product Description

TEAD1 also known as TEF-1, TCF-13 is a ubiquitous transcriptional enhancer factor that is a member of the TEA/ATTS domain family. TEAD1′s highly conserved DNA-binding domain allows interaction with specific DNA sequences, such as GT-IIC, SphI/II, and M-CAT, as well as the proximal regulatory element of transforming growth factor-alpha, which is often overexpressed in numerous cancers. TEAD1′s ability to bind these elements is vital for function in gene regulation, particularly in tumorigenesis, where TEAD1 may influence oncogene expression. Additionally, TEAD1 undergoes post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation by several protein kinase C isozymes, which occurs at serine and threonine residues. This phosphorylation can diminish DNA-binding capacity, suggesting a regulatory mechanism that may inhibit transcriptional activity.
