| Product Description | |
TCP1α also known as T complex 1, CCTα is a molecular chaperone that is a member of the chaperonin containing TCP1 complex (CCT). TCP1α plays a vital role in the proper folding of cytosolic proteins, particularly actins and tubulins, which are fundamental for maintaining cellular structure and function. TCP1α was first identified in mice with tail-less and embryonic lethal phenotypes, demonstrating its importance in critical developmental processes. Homologous sequences of TCP1 have been identified across various species, indicating evolutionary conservation and significance in cellular biology. TCP1′s function as a molecular chaperone for actin and tubulin in both mammalian cells and yeast emphasizes its essential role in ensuring cytoskeletal framework integrity, which is crucial for numerous cellular processes, including motility, division, and intracellular transport. |
