PKCδ also known as PKCdelta, PRKCD is a member of the protein kinase C family of serine- and threonine-specific protein kinases. PKCδ plays a crucial role in cellular signaling pathways, particularly in the regulation of apoptosis and cell survival, making PKCδ an important target for cancer research and therapeutic interventions. Located primarily in the cytoplasm and translocating to the membrane upon activation, PKCδ′s ability to modulate various signaling cascades is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to extracellular stimuli. PKCδ′s unique structure, characterized by a C1 domain that binds diacylglycerol and a C2 domain that interacts with phospholipids, allows for precise regulation of activity in response to cellular signals.
