Product Description

Profilin-1 a member of the profilin family of small actin-binding proteins. Profilin-1 plays a crucial role in regulating actin polymerization by binding to and sequestering actin monomers, which is essential for various cellular processes, including cell motility, shape, and division. Profilin-1 acts as a nucleotide exchange factor, facilitating the loading of ATP onto actin, thereby promoting its polymerization. Profilin-1 is predominantly expressed in the lung, liver, placenta, and kidney, while Profilin-2 is highly expressed in the brain and skeletal muscle, highlighting the diverse functional roles of profilins in different tissues. Profilin-1′s localization in these organs suggests involvement in critical physiological processes, such as respiratory function and cellular signaling pathways.
