| Product Description | |
Optineurin also known as FIP2, OPTN plays a crucial role in cellular processes such as cell morphogenesis, membrane trafficking, and transcriptional activation by interacting with key proteins like Rab8 and Huntingtin. Localization to the Golgi apparatus is significant, as this organelle is essential for protein processing and sorting, which are vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and function. Mutations in Optineurin have been linked to normal-tension glaucoma and adult-onset primary open-angle glaucoma, highlighting significance in ocular health. Optineurin consists of 617 amino acids and features structural motifs such as leucine zippers and leucine-rich regions, along with a potential Cys2-His-Cys zinc finger domain, which may be involved in protein-protein interactions and regulatory functions. |
