Product Description

JMJD2A also known as KDM4A is a member of the Jumonji domain 2 (JMJD2) family and encodes a protein containing a JmjN domain, a JmjC domain, a JD2H domain, two TUDOR domains. JMJD2A plays a crucial role in gene expression regulation by specifically demethylating lysine residues 9 and 36 on histone H3, essential for proper interpretation of the histone code. JMJD2A′s ability to demethylate tri-methylated H3 Lys 9 and H3 Lys 36, while leaving other residues untouched, highlights JMJD2A′s specificity and importance in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation. JMJD2A generates formaldehyde and succinate as byproducts of demethylation activity, which can have further implications in cellular metabolism and signaling pathways.
